"I brought that back, I threw it in there," she said of the line, which was unscripted. "I did it, and Francis called cut, and I went over to him, and said, ‘You have to keep that in the movie, because the fans will go bananas.’
Set against the backdrop of the digital age, Laura Plageman considers notions of realism and authenticity using analog processes. In her Response series, she treats photographs as both representations and tangible objects, touching on the possibilities of realist representation, referentiality, and the photograph-as-thing. Her images explore the relationships between the process of image making, photographic truth and distortion, and the representation of landscape. She is interested in making pictures that examine the natural world as a scene of mystery, beauty, and constant change transformed by both human presence and by its own design.
